Delhi: Action taken on police personnel over alleged negligence

What seemed as a clear message towards zero tolerance in any laxity towards duty, strict action was taken against several force personnel, including an inspector from a police station in Shahbad Dairy area of Outer-North Delhi.

It is said that the action follows alleged mismanagement and the concerned police staff not being present on the spots assigned for their duty near a temple in the area when the Police Commissioner SBK Singh was on a review visit on Saturday amid the Janmashtami festivities.

The police chief had visited an important temple in Outer-North district to take stock of the situation, and this alleged mismanagement surfaced as several personnel were found allegedly absent from their posts, after which departmental action was initiated against them.

According to officials, the police chief on Saturday conducted an on ground inspection across various parts of the national capital in wake of the festival and took stock of the security arrangements put in place.
The police are on their toes amid the festival, and had stepped up security arrangements to ensure that the festivities carry on in a smooth and uninterrupted manner so that the public faces no inconvenience.

Elaborate arrangements had been put in place across the city’s big and small temples and prominent markets amid Janmashtami celebrations, as the places witness high footfall on the occasion.
